Is your organization ready for the Digital World driven by Social Media?

In the old days the only professionals who suffered from Ulcer were those who worked in the fast paced real time market of Trading stocks, currency, commodities and more. They had to think on their feet and made or lost millions based on their ability to respond to information and act on it immediately.
With the advent of Digital World driven by Social Media in Real time organizations need to get Digital Traders onto the floor who can respond in real time to delight customers and protect your organization from Demise.
Can organizations be shaken  from their slumber to respond in real time to social media and infuse the speed required to be on top of your customers needs and suggestions?  The way forward is not throwing in more people with attributes of Traders (and candidates for Ulcer)  but to use technology driven real time analytic solutions to keep listen and respond on the Digital Highway.

Organizations need business value from traffic in the Digital World!

This means if your organization having a presence in the Digital World driven by Social Media  is not enough! the organization  needs to invest on real time analytic tools which can help them to respond and sieve the good grains from the chaff in the real time traffic of social media.
Organizations who get this strategy right and make investments in the right people and analytic tools have a clear advantage of surviving, while those who don't will go extinct like the dinosaurs.
Are your ready to take on the  Digital World driven by Social Media?

Cloud Computing and Traffic Congestion

One of the challenges in any metro today is reaching your destination in time and comfort. Today it took me two hours to travel a distance of less then 20 Kms ( 12.5 miles) which was a real waste of my time and not a nice experience.
The best way to beat the traffic in metros like Mumbai is to travel between 3 a.m. to about 7 a.m. when the roads are mostly empty, signals do not operate and it is a free world. This is also the graveyard shift and no business can be done at this time.

One of the solutions of managing traffic is using mobility, cloud computing for algorithmic engines which can guide the users in wading their way through traffic.
Some of the cities where I have seen this can be immediately implemented is Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, London (M25), New York, Sao Paulo, Sydney, Tokyo and many more.
The convergence of cloud, mobility, big data brings an opportunity to use technology to tackle traffic congestion in our cities.  It has been proven that increasing the roads and building more flyovers does not help in reducing traffic congestion. Rather what is needed is  traffic flow management and here is where cloud computing, mobility, big data and transport algorithms can make the difference.
Cloud computing is already being tested for Air Traffic control by GE

Here is an opportunity to build a solution in the cloud to manage traffic congestion which has an immediate impact on the GDP and the happiness index of the citizens.

Road Sense and Governance

Every day we get into the real world and encounter traffic as we ride to our place of work or for pleasure.
The way people behave in the roads gives us a sense of governance of the place we live in.
If people park where they like irrespective of it being a no parking zone or double parking, it is clear that they care two hoots for courtesy or the law. It is not that they do not understand the consequence of not following the law, rather it is the nonchalant attitude knowing well that there will be  enforcement. of the law.

This is where good governance steps in , when the law is enforced and punishment is meted out quickly without fear or favor then you will see citizens who comply with the laws of the land . But remove the element of governance and it you will see its impact reflected in the rowdy traffic on our roads.

A simple measure of governance and road behavior is easy to observe,  all you need is to observe how people behave in the traffic and you will find the  governance barometer.

When I travel from State to State in India it is so easy to map the behavior of its drivers to the governance, the same applies to other countries too.

Try this the next time you are in a new city observe the drivers in the road and you will understand the effectiveness of governance in that city.
